The office of Academic Programs and Planning (APP) is committed to promoting student learning and success by partnering with faculty and staff to develop, deliver, and continuously improve academic programs; collaborating with the Academic Senate to develop, implement, and review academic policies; and engaging the campus leadership in academic planning. In particular, APP provides guidance and support for each of the university’s degree programs, which for AY 2023-2024 includes 66 undergraduate and 33 graduate degrees (35 are accredited), plus 92 minors , 15 accredited credentials , and numerous other non-degree academic programs. APP also provides administrative oversight for the university’s General Education program . To achieve its mission, APP facilitates academic planning for new and existing degree programs; manages accreditation and program review for Cal Poly and all of its degree programs; directs the assessment of student learning , especially the achievement of six core competencies; oversees the university’s Instructionally Related Activities program ; implements systemwide CSU initiatives ; and makes reports to meet all of the university’s accountability requirements. Academic Programs and Planning is part of the Academic Innovations and Programs (AIP) unit, alongside: Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology ( ctlt.calpoly.edu ) Office of Writing and Learning ( writingandlearning.calpoly.edu ) Service Learning Program ( civic.calpoly.edu ) University Honors Program ( honors.calpoly.edu ) APP is now located in Chase Hall Chase Hall will be APP’s temporary home while Kennedy Library is being renovated. Chase Hall, one of the original campus dorms, is located near Mustang Stadium. APP moved onto the second floor of this new location in July 2023. Chase Hall was named in honor of Interim President Margaret Chase, the only woman to head the California Polytechnic. Information about Margaret Chase can be found here .
